HOW TO REGISTER AND TAKE THE GED IN ITALY

Preparing for the GED may seem like a challenge. After all, the GED is a set of four tests that serve as an equivalent to a high school diploma in the USA. In order to get this equivalency, you must pass four tests, each reflecting the knowledge and skills acquired over four years of high school education.

This blog addresses the three key questions every candidate in Italy needs to know when they are considering taking on the GED. Let’s dive in!

Table of Contents

Where to Prepare For the GED

As you’ve already read, the GED is comprised of 4 different tests: Mathematical Reasoning, Reasoning Through Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science. While there is plenty of content for both study and practice in preparation for the GED, you should ask yourself the following questions:

  • Can I face the GED preparation on my own?
  • Will I be able to solve all the doubts I may have when studying the GED material?
  • Can I achieve my GED goals with the time I am given to prepare without help?

If you aren’t confident answering yes to one or more of these questions, you may want to seek out help from professionals who know the exam and know how to help test-takers reach their goals. While there are many academies and exam preparation centers that offer classes for exams such as IELTS or TOEFL, GED courses are often overlooked in Italy. Luckily, whether you’re in a metropolitan area – such as Milan, Florance, or Rome – or a remote coastal town, EPIC PREP can help you on your GED journey.

Where to Take the GED Test in Italy

For test-takers outside of the US, the GED consists of a set of four tests that are taken on a computer at authorized centers; in other words, the online testing option is not available for international students. Currently, there are 2 test centers in Italy that administer the GED:

  • Official GED center in Rome: RTS Testing and Language Service SRL
  • Official GED center in Milan: ITTS First Consulting (Select)

Depending on where in Italy you live, you may find that taking the exam in another country – such as Slovenia or Spain – may be more convenient. Check out your GED registration options by logging into your GED account, clicking on More and then selecting Where to Test from the menu.

What Language Is the GED In?

As the GED is a qualification issued by an educational institution in the USA, it is commonly taken in English. Recently, a Spanish version of the GED has been made available for those who find the English exam difficult and feel more comfortable with this language alternative. While the GED does offer the four tests in Spanish, Italian centers only offer the English option.

Given that the GED in Italy is exclusively administered in English, it’s crucial to assess whether your English level is adequate for the test. Based on our extensive experience in preparation, we have found that – with dedication and hard work – students who have an upper-intermediate level of English can tackle the GED exam. However, if your English skills do not meet this standard, it would be wise to focus on improving your language proficiency before preparing for the GED.
