IELTS Registration in 8 Easy Steps

Planning on taking IELTS? The first step is to register! With EPIC PREP’s step-by-step guide to the IELTS registration process, achieving your dreams abroad is easier than ever.

1. Visit IELTS Website

IELTS – jointly owned by the British Council, IDP IELTS, and Cambridge University Press & Assessment – administers the exam that is trusted by both immigration authorities and academic institutions alike. To register for IELTS, you’ll need to visit their website at IELTS.org.

Once you’re on the homepage, click on the “Test Takers” tab to view the dropdown options.

Click “Booking Your Test” then “Book Now.” Scroll down until you see Find a Test Centre.

2. Complete the Find a Test Centre Form

UKVI Approved: Before booking your test, be sure to check the requirements as you may need to select this option approved by the UK Visas and Immigration for certain visa applications to the UK. These options are less frequent and often only available in bigger cities.

3. Select a Testing Location

Once you Apply Filter, you’ll be able to see if your city of choice offers the testing options you’re looking for. If you can easily get to another location easily, it may be worth your while to check out your options.

4. Choose a Date

Select the date that works best for you.

5. Create an Account

Complete the form online. You’ll also need to upload a scanned photo of a valid identification document. Ensure that your name matches that you use for registration matches the name on the ID.

*Note that test takers under the age of 18 must supply written consent by a parent or guardian.

6. Pay the Registration Fee

You can pay the fee online using a credit or debit card.

7. Review Your Registration

Review all of the information carefully to make sure it’s correct. Once you’ve confirmed that everything – dates, personal information, and email – is accurate, submit your registration.

8. Check Your Email Inbox

Once all the steps above are completed, you’ll receive emails that confirm the time and address of your test, the time and address of your speaking test, and your IELTS Reference Number to access the Test Taker Portal. You’ll also receive an email with access to IELTS Ready Premium.
