Online Registration Through Your ETS Account
The most accessible and convenient way to register for the TOEFL is through your ETS account, since you can complete the process at any time.
If you do not yet have an account on this platform, we will explain how to create one so you can complete the online registration process. Although the entire process has many steps, we can assure you that they are easy to complete. Let’s start with user creation (*if you already have an ETS account you can go to the next section):
ETS User Signing Up Process
- On the official ETS TOEFL website, click on the box that says “Register Now“.
- The website will redirect you to another page where you can log in or create a new user. If the content of the page is in English, you can change the language to Spanish by clicking on the “Language Preference” box at the top right.
- Once you have selected the language of your preference, select the “Create an account[Create an account]” checkbox.
- You will then be shown a registration form in which you must fill in all the fields with an asterisk (*). Remember: your ETS registration information must match the identification document you present on test day. In Spain, identification with a passport, DNI or NIE with name, photo, and signature is accepted; driver’s license with name, photo and signature; or military identification with name, photo, and signature. If you are a TOEFL candidate in Spain with a non-EU nationality, we recommend that you register with your passport information. For more information, see the link: Identification (ID) requirements for the TOEFL exam.
- Once you have completed all five sections of the form: Personal Information, Additional Information, Search Service, Username/Password, and Review, you have completed the account creation process.
- Check your email to receive confirmation from ETS.

TOEFL Online Registration
- If you already have an ETS account, the first step in registering for the TOEFL is to log in to the platform with your username and password.
- On your account home page, you will see a section called My Tests, and a box titled “Register/Find Test Centers and Dates“.
- Next, you will see a box where you can choose whether you want to register for the TOEFL iBT (at a test center), TOEFL Home Edition, or TOEFL Essentials.
- Once you have selected the version of TOEFL you want, you can select the location where you want to take the test. Also, you can choose a two-month period to see available dates.
- If you decide to take the TOEFL iBT, when you click on “Continue” a list of authorized centers will appear with dates and times available to take the exam. Select the center you want, and click on “Register”. If, on the other hand, you want to take the Home Edition version, you will see a list of days and times to take the exam from home. Remember to check your time zone, at the top, where it says “Change my time zone”.
- Once you have completed these steps, click on the “Register For This Test” box.
- Next, you will see a section titled “Before You Register For Your Test” with all the information you need to know before completing the registration process. This section includes important sections on accepted identification documents, the availability of your results, adapted services in case of disability, etc.
- Once you have read the information and accepted the data privacy policy, the next step is to include the details of the identity document you will present on the day of the exam (remember to check the list of identity documents allowed in Spain, particularly if you are a national of a non-EU country).
- After entering your identification data, you will be able to review all the personal and contact information associated with your account, your educational profile, the reason you wish to take the TOEFL, among others. You can modify any information that is not correct.
- Finally, you will be asked which institutions you wish to send your TOEFL results to. You can select up to 4 institutions for free. If you still don’t know which institutions you want to send your results to, you can complete this section after the exam. You can also select if you want the results to be sent to you online or physically.
- When you have entered all the information, ETS will offer you a list of study materials for an additional charge (purchasing these materials is optional). Then, you can review the cost of your exam, which is $255 (USD), or you can select the equivalence in euros. Complete the payment process with a debit/credit card, Paypal, or bank account.
- When your payment has been verified you will receive a confirmation email with your TOEFL test information.

TOEFL Telephone Registration
If you wish to register for the TOEFL by telephone, you must contact the Regional Registration number assigned to Spain and other European countries (PROMETRIC +31-320-239-540). Remember that depending on your calling plan, you may incur additional costs.
To facilitate the telephone registration process, it is ideal that before calling you have with you your identification document, your address, date of birth, email address, and the date on which you wish to take the exam. To check the availability of dates and authorized centers near your area, you can obtain this information on the ETS website (Places and dates to take the TOEFL iBT exam). If you register within 7 days before the test date, you will be charged an additional fee of $40 (USD).
Registration by Mail
Although you can register by mail, we recommend that you use this option only if you are unable to do either of the other two alternatives, as you will have to wait longer for your registration request to be processed.
TOEFL registration by mail must be done at least 4 weeks before the test date. To do so, you must download and complete the Registration Form including all your data, test date, and method of payment. You may only fill out this form using a ballpoint pen with blue or black ink.
Once you have completed the Registration Form, you must send it to the Regional Registry assigned to Spain.
