SAT® Prep Course in Switzerland
EPIC Prep is a specialized SAT tutoring company that has prepared thousands of students across more than 10 countries since 2010, with expert native-speaking tutors, exclusive in-house materials and its proprietary practice platform, BoostYourPrep. For a student in Switzerland, the SAT is above all a passport beyond the country’s borders: a single score that reaches Bocconi, the Stockholm School of Economics and other leading European universities, the United States, and — as supporting evidence — some universities in the United Kingdom. Every preparation starts with a diagnostic of the student’s current level; from there we build the plan, the pace and the target score around it. And it is not only the SAT — we also support students preparing for the IB and other international exams.

Why take the SAT in Switzerland: Bocconi, Europe, the US and the UK
The real advantage of the SAT for a student in Switzerland is reach: one score, prepared once, that supports applications on several fronts at the same time. This is where preparation pays off, because the universities that rely most on the SAT sit outside the country.
Bocconi University in Milan accepts the SAT as an alternative to its own admission test, with competitive applicants typically scoring around 1400. It is the destination with the most traction among students in Switzerland: a single SAT score opens Bocconi and, at the same time, keeps universities beyond Italy on the table. Read our SAT-for-Bocconi preparation guide for the full detail.
The Stockholm School of Economics requires every international applicant to its English-taught bachelor’s programs to submit a university admission test, and it prefers the SAT. The minimum cut-off is an SAT total of 1300, superscoring is not accepted, and the international application round closes in mid-January. SSE accepts SAT results up to three years old.
Across the rest of Europe, a growing number of English-taught bachelor’s programs accept the SAT from international applicants. The exact requirement is set program by program, so confirm it for each university on your list.
In the United States, the SAT is the standard undergraduate admissions exam, used by the great majority of universities. A student in Switzerland targeting the US therefore prepares the same test that already opens doors in Europe.
The United Kingdom works differently. UK undergraduate admissions are based on A-levels, the IB or an equivalent national qualification, and no UK university requires the SAT as a primary entry requirement. Some universities may consider an SAT score as supporting evidence, particularly for students following an American curriculum, but it does not replace the main school-leaving qualification.
University admission criteria change from one cycle to the next. The scores, deadlines and requirements above are provided as guidance only — always confirm the current figures on the official admissions page of each university before planning your application.
Swiss universities that accept the SAT
A small number of Swiss universities include the SAT in their admissions criteria. If one of them is on your list, the exact conditions depend on the program you apply to, so always confirm the current requirements directly with the university before you plan.
EHL Hospitality Business School (Lausanne)
EHL Hospitality Business School includes the SAT among its admissions criteria: applicants who have not studied mathematics in the last three years of secondary school can meet the school’s math requirement with an SAT Math score of at least 550. EHL’s College Board institutional code is 4102. If EHL is your goal, confirm the current requirements for your specific program.
Franklin University Switzerland (Lugano)
Franklin University Switzerland, accredited in both the United States and Switzerland, accepts the SAT as part of its holistic, US-style admissions review; a strong score supports your application. Franklin’s College Board institutional code is 0922. As with any university, confirm the current conditions directly with Franklin before you apply.
Why prepare for the SAT in Switzerland with a specialized SAT tutoring company
A student in Switzerland sitting the SAT is not competing against their classmates: they are competing against applicants from all over the world, many of them native English speakers with years of exam-specific preparation behind them. Whether a student comes from the Swiss Matura, the IB or an international-school curriculum, that education builds a strong academic foundation — but none of those systems is designed for the logic, pace and strategy specific to this exam. The Swiss upper-secondary system rewards depth and sustained study; the SAT rewards fast, precise reasoning under strict time limits. The good news is that the SAT score is one of the few parts of an application a student can actively improve, with a clear plan and defined deadlines.
And that is the difference between preparing alone — or with a generalist teacher, without high-level practice software, without proprietary materials and without the experience only years of preparing this exam can give — and doing it with a specialized SAT tutoring team that since 2010 has taken thousands of students to their target score.
Looking for an SAT course in Zurich, or anywhere else in Switzerland, EPIC Prep works from its Zurich base and has prepared students across the country since 2010. Every preparation starts by understanding the student: starting level, target score and exam date. From there we design a tailored program with expert tutors, exclusive materials and the EPIC Prep Methodology.

Frequently Asked Questions About the SAT Course in Switzerland
These are the questions students and families in Switzerland ask us most often before getting started. If your question is not listed here, write to us and we will be happy to answer it.
Is the SAT worth taking if I already have the Swiss Matura or the IB?
Yes — because they do different jobs. The Matura and the IB are your school-leaving qualifications; the SAT is the key that unlocks admissions routes those diplomas do not open on their own, from Bocconi and the Stockholm School of Economics to universities across the United States. Adding a strong SAT score widens the set of universities you can realistically apply to, often without changing anything else in your application.
When should I take the SAT?
Work it out from the universities you are targeting. Applications to US universities take longer to prepare, because they weigh qualitative factors — essays, activities, recommendations — alongside your scores, so the whole process needs more lead time than a purely score-based application elsewhere. Once you know when you have to apply, plan the SAT around it. As a rule of thumb, reaching a target SAT score usually takes a student between three and five months of preparation, and sometimes more, depending on the level each university demands and the student’s starting point. We also help students who have far less time — often because they decided later — and part of our job is to make that work. The single best piece of advice: as soon as you realize you will need the SAT, get in touch, and we will design the plan around your situation.
Can I take the SAT in Switzerland?
Yes. The SAT runs on the College Board’s international calendar, with a shared set of test dates offered worldwide across the year, and it is administered at authorized test centers in Switzerland. To see exactly which center you can sit it at, create a College Board account and begin the registration process for your chosen date: the system uses your location to show the nearest available centers and their remaining seats. Popular centers fill quickly during peak admission periods, so register as early as you can once your date opens.
Do international-school students in Switzerland still need SAT preparation?
Yes. Switzerland has one of the highest concentrations of international and bilingual schools in Europe, and even students from these schools — including native English speakers — regularly score below their expectations on early SAT practice tests. The exam rewards a speed, precision and question strategy that no school curriculum teaches directly. Targeted preparation focuses on exactly those exam-specific skills, which is why strong students still see meaningful gains from a structured plan.
Does studying in German, French or Italian affect the SAT Reading and Writing section?
It can. The Reading and Writing section tests academic English — the formal, evidence-based prose found in university-level texts — and students from German-, French- or Italian-medium schools often find the vocabulary register and the density of the reading passages more demanding than expected, even when their everyday English is strong. This is one of the first areas targeted preparation addresses, through steady exposure to the specific passage types and question logic the SAT uses, so that language never becomes the ceiling on the score.
How is the Digital SAT structured?
The SAT is fully digital and is taken on a laptop or tablet through the College Board’s Bluebook app, at a test center rather than at home. It lasts around 2 hours and 14 minutes and has two sections — Reading and Writing, and Math — each split into two modules. It is section-adaptive, which means performance in the first module determines the difficulty of the second, so accuracy and pacing early in each section matter a great deal. A calculator, including the built-in Desmos graphing calculator, is allowed throughout the entire Math section.
