SAT® Prep Course in Milan
In Milan, more and more students preparing for Bocconi are choosing the SAT over the Bocconi admission test — and the reason is strategic. Bocconi accepts both, but its own test opens one door: Bocconi. A strong SAT score opens Bocconi and thousands of universities across the United States, the UK and Europe, all from a single exam. That flexibility is why ambitious students in Milan increasingly build their application around the SAT. Since 2010, EPIC Prep has prepared students for exactly this, and from our Milan office at Via Vincenzo Monti 8 we work with students aiming at Bocconi, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and the Politecnico di Milano — as well as the most prestigious universities abroad. We start by understanding your target score and your timeline, then build the preparation around them, with expert native-speaking tutors and our own SAT practice platform, Boost Your Prep.

The SAT in Milan: why take it
In Milan, more and more students preparing for university choose the SAT for a strategic reason: it is accepted by Bocconi as an alternative to the Bocconi admission test, but unlike that test — which is valid for one university only — a single SAT score also opens the doors of universities in the United States, the UK and across Europe. One exam, many applications.
Because the SAT is no longer just "the American exam". In Milan itself, Bocconi, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and the Politecnico di Milano all accept it as part of their admissions; and that same score lets you apply to top universities in the United States, the UK and the rest of Europe. For a family in Milan with a child who wants to study abroad — or on an English-taught international degree without leaving the city — few tests open as many doors with a single result.
Why prepare for the SAT in Milan with a specialised academy?
A student in Milan sitting the SAT isn't competing against their classmates: they're competing against applicants from all over the world, many of them native English speakers with years of targeted preparation behind them. The Italian school system — the liceo, whether classico, scientifico or linguistico, and the maturità — builds a strong academic foundation through depth, extended writing and oral reasoning, but it isn't designed for the fast, standardised, time-pressured logic the SAT rewards. The advantage is clear: the SAT score is one of the few parts of an application you can actively improve, with a defined plan and concrete deadlines.
That is the difference between preparing on your own — or with a generalist teacher, without high-level practice software and without the experience that only years devoted to this exam can give — and doing it with a specialised team that since 2010 has taken thousands of students to their target score: that difference shows up directly in the result.
EPIC Prep Milan is an academy specialised in the SAT. Every preparation starts by understanding the student: starting level, target score and exam date. From there we design a tailored programme with expert tutors, exclusive materials and the EPIC Prep Methodology.

Frequently asked questions about the SAT course in Milan
Below you will find answers to the most common questions families and students have about the SAT exam. These FAQs cover essential topics such as registration, test dates, scoring, superscoring policies, international testing locations, Digital SAT format, and strategic preparation considerations. Whether you are applying to universities in the United States or exploring institutions in Europe and other international destinations, understanding how the SAT works is a key step in planning a successful admissions strategy.
Where is the SAT administered in Milan?
The SAT is administered in Milan at College Board–authorised test centres, usually located in the city’s international schools. Exam dates follow the international College Board calendar, with sessions typically available in March, May, June, August, September, October, November and December. Registration opens three to five months ahead, and centres in Milan fill up quickly during peak admission periods, so early registration is strongly recommended.
Should I take the SAT or the Bocconi admission test?
Bocconi accepts both and, if you submit more than one score, considers the highest — but the two are not equivalent in reach. The Bocconi test is valid for one university only; a strong SAT score is accepted by Bocconi and by thousands of universities in the United States, the UK and across Europe. For any student considering options beyond Bocconi, the SAT is usually the more strategic choice. A competitive Bocconi SAT score is around 1400–1450.
Which universities in Milan accept the SAT?
In Milan, Bocconi University, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and the Politecnico di Milano all accept the SAT in their admissions. Indicative minimums are around 1400 for Bocconi, roughly 1120 (560 per section) for Cattolica and about 1240 for the Politecnico. The same score also opens universities in the United States, the UK and the rest of Europe. Always confirm current requirements on each university’s official page.
Does the Italian school system prepare students well for the SAT?
The liceo — classico, scientifico or linguistico — and the maturità build strong analytical depth through extended writing and oral reasoning, but the SAT rewards something different: fast, standardised reasoning under strict time limits. Even strong students, and those at bilingual or international schools, usually need to recalibrate their approach and pacing. That adjustment is one of the first things targeted preparation addresses.
How is the SAT weighted in Bocconi's admissions?
At Bocconi, admission is decided roughly 55% by your test score (SAT or Bocconi test) and 45% by your GPA from your third- and second-to-last years of school. That makes your SAT score the single largest factor in the decision — more heavily weighted than at most European universities — which is why a focused preparation has such a direct impact on your chances.
When should I take the SAT to apply to Bocconi?
Bocconi admits in three rounds — Early, Winter and Spring — and around 90–95% of places are allocated in the first two. Because you must already have a valid SAT score when you apply, most students plan their SAT date several months before the Early or Winter deadline. Applying early also means better access to scholarships, so the SAT timeline should be built backwards from the round you’re targeting.
Do international-school students in Milan still need SAT preparation?
Yes. Even students at Milan’s English-medium or bilingual international schools, and native English speakers, regularly underperform on early SAT practice tests. The exam’s reading passages demand a speed and analytical precision different from school coursework, and the whole test rewards pacing and question strategy that no curriculum teaches directly. Preparation is about the format and strategy, not general ability.
