Roger Ferré
“My experience at EPIC has been unbeatable. I was looking for a center that helped me prepare for my MBA application, which includes the TOEFL and GMAT tests. Thanks to EPIC I scored 110 out of 120 on the TOEFL and 740 (97% percentile) on the GMAT."

GMAT (740)

Raul Perez
"I took the intensive GMAT course during this winter. Excellent methodology and above all good teachers. The teachers have been at all times very professional and attentive even at the end of the course until the date of the exam. Before I found EPIC Barcelona I went to another academy and I was quite disappointed with the preparation and the staff. Thanks to EPIC I got a score of 740 on the GMAT (before I got 540). Honestly, the teachers at this academy are a ten and very professional, they have helped me a lot in improving my weak points. Highly recommended."

GMAT Focus

Sofia de Ignacio
"Great experience with EPIC! Highly recommend to start studying for the GMAT "with EPIC. Provided me with great materials and wide experience during my preparation for both the GMAT and application process for the MBA. It was such a pleasure to have them during the whole process. In the end, I was accepted to each school I applied to, including INSEAD."

What Makes the GMAT Valuable for Applicants in Amsterdam?

Amsterdam has emerged as one of Europe's most internationally oriented MBA destinations, and Amsterdam Business School sits at the center of that reputation. The GMAT is the preferred admissions exam for ABS's MBA programs — and unlike many European business schools, ABS publishes specific benchmarks and actively rewards high scores through its GMAT scholarship program, with discounts of up to €12,000 for top results. For professionals in Amsterdam's finance, consulting, tech and corporate sectors, a strong GMAT score is the most direct way to strengthen an MBA application.

The GMAT Focus Edition tests quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning and data insights in a single adaptive exam. For candidates in Amsterdam who already work with data, financial models or business strategy daily, those skills are familiar — but performing on them under GMAT conditions, at GMAT speed, with GMAT question design, is a different challenge. That is the gap structured preparation closes.

The GMAT at Amsterdam's Leading Institutions

Amsterdam Business School (ABS) accepts the GMAT for its Amsterdam MBA and MBA in Finance programs. For the Amsterdam MBA, the suggested minimum GMAT Focus score is 565, and the average among admitted students is 625. For the MBA in Finance, the bar is higher: a suggested minimum GMAT Focus of 585, with an average of 625. ABS also rewards competitive GMAT scores through its scholarship program, offering discounts of up to €12,000 for scores above 595 on the Focus Edition.

Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU) accepts the GMAT for its pre-master programs at the School of Business and Economics. Applicants who do not meet standard admission requirements can submit a GMAT score of 525 or higher to remedy deficiencies.

The University of Amsterdam (UvA) accepts the GMAT as an alternative to the GRE for its MSc Economics, MSc Business Economics and MSc Data Science and Business Analytics programs. The GMAT Focus minimum is 585, with 595 preferred, and the Quantitative Reasoning section must reach at least 79 points (preferably 82).

Where Does the GMAT Take You Beyond Amsterdam?

Many MBA candidates in Amsterdam apply to more than one country in the same cycle — the Netherlands, France, the UK, Spain, Switzerland. A GMAT score earned here is recognized at INSEAD, London Business School, IESE, HEC Paris, the University of St. Gallen and SDA Bocconi, and at ABS itself the same score can directly reduce your tuition through the GMAT scholarship. That dual payoff — admissions leverage and financial return — is unusual in European MBA markets and makes serious GMAT preparation one of the highest-ROI investments a candidate in Amsterdam can make.

Why Prepare for the GMAT in Amsterdam With a Specialist Tutoring Company?

A candidate in Amsterdam applying to Amsterdam Business School, INSEAD or an international MBA is not only competing against classmates — they are up against professionals from around the world, many with months of GMAT-specific preparation already behind them. A strong professional background in Amsterdam's finance or tech sectors builds a real foundation, but it does not train the GMAT's particular logic, its adaptive pacing or its data-insights traps. That gap — in approach, not ability — is the first thing a specialist course works on.

ABS publishes its averages: GMAT Focus 625 for the Amsterdam MBA, 625 for the MBA in Finance. Those are not abstract targets — they are the scores admitted candidates actually bring. Closing the gap between your diagnostic result and that benchmark requires someone who knows the Focus Edition's adaptive engine, its Data Insights traps, and the no-calculator quantitative reasoning that separates a 580 from a 640. That is not what a general business tutor delivers.

EPIC Prep's GMAT team works exclusively on this exam. Your tutor knows the Focus Edition because it is the only test they prepare — not one of five. From your diagnostic assessment forward, every session is tracked through PrepDrills, our practice platform with 2,000+ GMAT exercises and instant feedback. The plan adapts as your scores change: sections where you are already strong get maintained, sections where 20 points are available get the hours. Sessions fit around your schedule in Amsterdam — whether you are working in finance, consulting or tech, or managing a transition between roles.

EPIC Prep Amsterdam is an academy that specializes in the GMAT. Every course starts with a diagnostic assessment — your starting level, your target score and your exam date — before we design your plan around expert tutors, exclusive materials and the EPIC Prep Methodology.

Frequently Asked Questions About the GMAT Course in Amsterdam

This section compiles the answers to the questions we are most frequently asked by candidates in Amsterdam who are considering taking the GMAT Focus Edition as part of their MBA, MBA or Master’s in Management or Finance admission process. Here we address key issues such as whether the test is mandatory, the differences between the GMAT and GRE, the current GMAT structure, its scoring system, the validity of scores, the retake policy, the available modalities – in an authorized center or online – and strategic aspects related to preparation and score submission.

If you are planning your application to business school programs in Europe, the United States or other international destinations, a thorough understanding of how the GMAT works and what role it plays in the selection process is an essential element in building a rigorous and well-informed admissions strategy.

Amsterdam Business School does not enforce a hard minimum, but it publishes suggested benchmarks. For the Amsterdam MBA, the suggested minimum GMAT Focus score is 565, and the average among admitted students is 625. For the MBA in Finance, the suggested minimum is GMAT Focus 585, with an average of 625. ABS also rewards high scores through its GMAT scholarship program, offering discounts of up to €12,000 for scores above 595 on the GMAT Focus Edition.

Yes. VU Amsterdam accepts the GMAT for its pre-master programs at the School of Business and Economics, where a minimum score of 525 or higher can remedy admission deficiencies. The GMAT code for VU’s School of Business and Economics is 289. For the MSc Business Administration, no GMAT or GRE is required.

Yes. UvA accepts the GMAT as an alternative to the GRE for its MSc Economics, MSc Business Economics and MSc Data Science and Business Analytics programs. The minimum GMAT Focus score is 585, with 595 preferred, and the Quantitative Reasoning section must reach at least 79 points (preferably 82). However, UvA lists the GRE as the primary test for these programs.

In Amsterdam, the GMAT is a computer-delivered test available both at Pearson VUE test centers and online. There are authorized test centers throughout Amsterdam where the exam is administered during the year. The online version is available in the Netherlands and uses the same content, format and scoring as the test-center version. Proctoring support for the online GMAT is currently offered in English.

It depends on your application targets. Amsterdam Business School accepts both and converts GRE scores to GMAT equivalents; the GMAT is the standard choice for candidates focused on the MBA. UvA’s School of Economics lists the GRE as its primary test for master’s programs in economics, business economics and data science. Candidates applying to both business and non-business programs may benefit from the GRE, which covers both paths. Candidates applying exclusively to MBA programs generally benefit from submitting a GMAT score.

The standard for most students in Amsterdam is 10 to 15 weeks of structured preparation to reach a competitive GMAT score. For applicants with a tight deadline, it is possible to work through a highly intensive plan in 5 to 7 weeks. Students who are already advanced in their preparation may need only 3 to 5 weeks of focused work. EPIC Prep designs each course individually for students in the Netherlands around the student’s starting level, target score and exam date.
