GED PRACTICE EXAMS TO PREPARE FOR THE GED

As with any test, it is necessary that you practice in a maximum realistic environment if you want to score well. To achieve your GED goals, you will need to take practice tests for all 4 tests. In this article we will explain where to get them and how to use them.

It is important, as a GED candidate, to understand that you are not going to get a good score just by practicing with tests. Practice on real simulations is necessary, but good preparation will require many more elements to guarantee your target score.

Where Can I Get GED Practice Tests?

On the official GED website, you have 4 practice tests posted so you know what to expect on test day. However, it is a teaser, meaning that you will simply be able to access 25% of the total of each of the 4 tests.

In addition to the free test option, you can also purchase a test for $6.99. On average a student may require content that appears in 8/10 exams for practice. These numbers must be multiplied by 4 so, for practice content alone, the cost is close to $300.

How to Use GED Practice Tests in Your Preparation?

The GED practice tests can be used in many ways. EPIC recommends that you use them in the following ways:

  1. During your preparation process for each of the tests, you can use the content of the GED practice tests to see your progress in the assimilation of the concepts. In this case, the practice tests are substitutes for other types of exercises. This strategy will help you understand if you are consolidating what you are studying. In order to do this, you will need to take several practice tests.
  2. Once you have secured all the concepts you need to take the GED test, it will be time for you to put your work to the test. In this phase you can complete an entire test. This will be a phase where you will use the feedback from the test to go back to your preparation and reinforce the knowledge you are still unclear about. This is an iterative phase. Don’t worry if you still don’t get the score you want.
  3. Now that you are clear on the concepts, the moment of truth has arrived. It is important that you know if you are ready or not before taking the real exam. To do this, we recommend that you simulate the moment of the exam as closely as possible. The two important variables are time and not consulting external elements. Take as many exams as you need until you get the grade you have set as a goal.

Conclusions

The GED is a comprehensive test. Remember that it is equivalent to a high school diploma in the U.S. It is not a good option to approach it as if it were a driver’s license or similar exams. In other words, mere practice is not going to guarantee that you will get the results you want. GED preparation combines theory and practice. The mastery consists of knowing how to organize the mix of both to create a work plan and, once implemented, to know how to adapt it according to the evolution of the candidate.
