Duolingo vs TOEFL and IELTS Scores
The DET, as is the case with TOEFL and IELTS, is an English level validation test that evaluates the 4 language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. They have different ways of doing it, but all of them issue a verdict that is accepted by some academic centers and/or others. It is not the purpose of this article to determine which is more accurate. However, we would like to remind the candidate that although the 3 exams validate all levels (low, intermediate and high), the same academic institution does not always ask for the same level depending on the exam. That is to say, we know of cases in which the same university asked for an advanced score on the DET while it asked for a high-intermediate score on the TOEFL. That is why you should always check what grade each university asks for on all the exams they accept, especially if it is difficult for you to achieve the required English level.Would You Like to Know How to Prepare for the Duolingo Test in 4 Weeks?
How Do the Common Framework of Reference for Languages Scores Work?
The Common Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is the official European standard for describing the degree of proficiency in the use of a language. In this scale, the following levels are established: – A1 Basic level. This level is for people who have the ability to use the language in very elementary situations. – A2 This is a higher level than A1. At this level, the candidate is able to hold conversations on everyday topics with an interlocutor who uses a very basic register. – B1 Intermediate levels begin. Here the candidate is able to formulate and express concepts in a more elaborate way. The candidate is also able to express himself/herself in writing with certain guarantees. – B2 The candidate is able to defend and structure his or her ideas correctly both in speech and in writing. Basic mistakes are no longer made and various registers are available depending on the interlocutor. – C1 The student demonstrates a significant command of the language. He/she has a sufficient level to receive higher education in the language. – C2 This is the highest level of language use. Sufficient resources are available to communicate in any context, ironies are perceived and the candidate even has a higher level than untrained native speakers can show.Equivalence Tables
