How to see your results?

As soon as your exam is corrected, you will receive an email from Duolingo informing you that you can check your score. You will then need to log in to your account and you will have access to your Duolingo results.

Interpretation of Results

When you get to your result certificate you will find:

  • Total result

Your Duolingo score, i.e. the score you are asked for in most cases, is the total score. It ranges from 10 to 160 points and moves in bands of 5 to 5 points. The DET score correlates with the official levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Remember that the total grade you get is neither good nor bad, but higher or lower than the grade requested by the entity to which you want to apply. Here is a link to the article we have prepared so you can compare your DET score against the CEFR, TOEFL and IELTS levels.

  • Individual results

The DET score report incorporates 4 individual evaluations that are scored on the same scale as the overall score. Individual results include:

  1. Literacy assesses the candidate’s ability to read and write in English.
  2. Comprehension assesses the candidate’s ability to read and write in English.
  3. Conversation assesses the candidate’s ability to speak and listen in English.
  4. Production evaluates the candidate’s ability to write and speak English.

One of the differences of Duolingo when evaluating the candidate is, precisely, the reporting of individual results. Usually, the 4 competencies are assessed individually while DET mixes them in blocks of 2 because it considers that it gives a more accurate picture of the candidate.

The calculation of your total grade and individual grades is done independently. That is, the total grade is not an average of the individual grades. In turn, the individual scores are the result of a weighted calculation of the questions that correspond to each category.

How to Share Your Results?
